Dear Community is a non-profit organisation dedicated to serving our community and making a positive impact. Our funding model involves charging attendees a slightly higher fee at each event to ensure the sustainability and viability of our organisation. This additional amount goes directly towards covering the various expenses that are necessary for us to operate.

You are investing into the growth of an organisation that can reach more people, to expand its resources so that more girls across the world can experience the powerful impact of a community. Our mission is to host events in every major city across this world, but this will not happen without your help and support.

Allow me to shed some light on our expenses. Alongside the costs associated with organising events, we have numerous essential expenditures such as

All of which enable us to maintain legal compliance, financial transparency, and effective management. These expenses are vital for the smooth functioning of our organisation and ensuring that we operate within the legal framework.

Let me share some important information about non-profit organisations in New Zealand. These organisations are established with a clear purpose of benefiting the community and are guided by certain principles and guidelines.They rely on various funding sources to sustain their operations and cover expenses. They are legally obligated to show proof that they are not making a profit, so rest assured this is not happening with Dear Community. 

Non-profits can receive financial support through grants from government agencies, foundations, and private donors who believe in their cause. Currently Dear Community is not funded through these, hence relying on your support as attendees.

To ensure transparency and accountability, non-profits have a responsibility to manage their finances efficiently. They allocate their funds to cover essential expenses like staff salaries (although this is not in place yet, as Dear Community does not have enough to cover salaries or paid staff members), program costs, and administrative needs. It's common for non-profits to have a diverse funding portfolio, combining different revenue streams to create stability and sustainability.

In addition to financial resources, non-profits also greatly rely on the dedication of volunteers who generously offer their time, skills, and expertise. Volunteers play a crucial role in advancing the organisation's mission and reducing operational costs.

By understanding the guidelines and funding aspects of non-profits, we can better appreciate the immense amount of work that it takes to run Dear Community. 

Support an organisation like Dear Community helps us to spread the word, that life doesn't have to be done alone.

It's important to note that I, as the founder, do not personally profit from Dear Community. In fact, I devote (on top of my full time job) approximately 20 hours per week to the organisation without any financial compensation. My commitment stems from a deep passion for our mission and the desire to create a positive impact within our community. We would love to get to the stage where Dear Community can hire staff to work full time, creating a website that can easily help people to RSVP to events, faster communication, website enhancements and most importantly creating a greater variety of events. This isn't possible without our current funding model that is in place.
